USA Triathlon says that its Age Group Sprint and Olympic-Distance National Championships are sold out. The event is scheduled to take place from Aug. 6 to 8 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. In addition to the national titles up for grabs, the races also serve as qualifiers for the national team for the 2022 World Triathlon Age Group Championships – Abu Dhabi will host the standard and super-sprint age group championships, while Montreal hosts the Sprint and Mixed Relay world championship events.
Milwaukee has been a popular stop for the US national championships, hosting the event for three years in a row from 2013 to 2015. In 2014 there were 5,789 athletes registered for the race.
Athletes swim in Lake Michigan with the bike crosses the Daniel Hoan Memorial Bridge before hitting the Lake Freeway, which is closed to traffic for the event. The run course follows the shore of Lake Michigan before returning to the finish line on Lincoln Memorial Drive.
