While we are on the eve of the Tokyo Olympics – this Friday is the opening ceremony and next Sunday and Monday are the men’s and women’s triathlon races – the IOC has announced that Brisbane will be the organizing city of the 2032 Olympics. After Melbourne (1956) and Sydney (2000), Brisbane will be the third Australian city to host the Olympic Games.

Just prior to the Tokyo Olympic Games, IOC members voted on the site of the 2032 Games, with 72 yes votes and 5 no votes towards Brisbane. According to IOC President Thomas Bach, Brisbane is a memorable location for the Olympics. Before Brisbane the Olympics will next be held in Paris in 2024 and Los Angeles in 2028.
