Another pro triathlete has a new addition to her family this year – Germany’s Daniela Bleymehl, the 2018 Challenge Roth champion, and her husband Moritz welcomed baby Alicia on July 15th. (Bleymehl has another son, Marlon, too.)

According to a release Bleymehl sent out today, “After the pandemic crossed the professional triathlete’s competition plans last year and made tremendous mental demands, the news about the pregnancy was a real highlight.”

Bleymehl says she’s anxious to get back to training, although it sounds like she managed to maintain quite a schedule through her pregnancy: “She enjoyed swimming until the scheduled date of birth, while there were more frequent mountain bike rides on the schedule, less roadbike sessions and less long runs much earlier,” we learned today.

The plan is to return to racing in 2022.

“I am still grateful that my sponsors support me not only during pregnancy, but also on the way back to professional triathlon,” Bleymehl said. “This can’t be taken for granted and is an enormous motivation to soon do again what I love from the bottom of my heart: to be on the starting line as a triathlete.”
