Challenge Family has announced a new partnership with Anfi Group, a hotel chain that has resorts in, among others, Gran Canaria, that offer the perfect training ground for triathletes. “Today’s announcement will provide access for athletes to both of Anfi Group’s exclusive members’ resorts, allowing them to combine an ideal training destination with a relaxing family holiday,” Challenge Family says in a press release. “Gran Canaria is renowned for its near perfect weather and varied terrain, from the mountainous interior roads to the spectacular coastal running tracks, while the winds that haunt other Canary Islands are notably absent. It all adds up to a hard-to-beat training destination.”

Anfi Group consists of two resorts in the south-west of Gran Canaria. Anfi del Mar, a tropical sanctuary of peace with white sand beaches, and Anfi Tauro Golf & Luxury Resort, which provides a luxury hotel and designer villas and one of the best golf courses in Europe. “Both resorts, comprised of five fully equipped clubs, have developed a strong focus on the needs and experiences of athletes, as well as their families.”

“As every athlete knows, it’s always a juggle combining work, training and family and invariably one misses out,” Challenge Family CEO, Jort Vlam, says. “At Anfi Group resorts, athletes can train guilt-free on some of the best terrain in Europe, happy in the knowledge the rest of their family is enjoying an amazing holiday in a world-class resort that they can all share together. Anfi Group’s commitment to excellence and their guests, with a focus on family, aligns perfectly with Challenge Family. They can even do something we wish we could at our events – guarantee fine weather with over 300 days of sunshine every year.”

Anfi Group has hosted some world-class athletes earlier this year for Challenge Gran Canaria, won by Jan Frodeno and Nicola Spirig. José Luis Trujillo, CEO of Anfi Group, emphasizes that Anfi del Mar forms the perfect base for a sporting event and offers great training facilities year round thanks to its “top class infrastructure, right on the beach with the required health and safety guarantees, [which] makes Anfi a stunning location to host competitions of any level.” Trujillo says that Anfi is “a real oasis for training as well as for good rest and spending quality time with the family, always sheltered by our privileged climate.” It therefore comes as no surprise that many top athletes have visited Anfi over the past decade including: Alberto Contador, Mikel Landa, Mario Chipollini, Román Kreuziger, David Silva, Jan Frodeno, Laura Siddall, Patrick Lange and Pablo Dapena Gonzalez, as well as professional cycling teams like Movistar and Ineos.
