Earlier, the organization announced the cancellation of this year’s Ironman 70.3 South Africa, but that decision has now been reversed, Ironman just announced. “We wanted to update you that we just received word from the Municipality that their decision has been reversed, and the event can now go ahead as planned on Sep. 5, 2021″, the organization stated in a press release.
“This is an unexpected turn of events, but we are pleased that we are able to continue to put on the event we have worked so hard to create for our athletes”, it continues. “We look forward to welcoming you in a short three weeks with an exceptional race experience. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused and the stress that has been put on you, our valued athletes, due to the sudden change of direction from the Buffalo City Municipality.”
