She had a stellar year when it comes to triathlon: Flora Duffy. Not only did she win a golden medal thanks to an impressive race – especially run – during the Tokyo Olympics, she also took the overall win of the 2021 World Triathlon Championship Series. While she was qualified for the Ironman 70.3 World Championship by taking the victory at Ironman 70.3 South Africa in 2020, she decided to skip the event, which is on calendar for the upcoming Saturday. No wonder that she decides to allow herself a break after such a busy year.

Just like Norway’s Olympic gold medalist Kristian Blummenfelt, Duffy was invited for the Ironman World Championship on Kona too, but it doesn’t seem like we will see Bermuda’s star athlete race there in February 2021.

“Wish it was my pre St. George week, but I was just too empty, too tired after Canada (the World Triathlon Championship Series in Montreal, which Duffy won, ed.) to step up another pressured opportunity. I seriously hope the dates line up for next year and that I can make my 70.3 World debut in the U.S.”

Duffy continues to say that she for now plans on racing Super League Triathlon Malibu, the World Triathlon Sprint Championship in Bermuda, the World Triathlon Championship Series in Abu Dhabi and the Xterra World Championship on Maui.
