Ironman announces new 70.3 in San Juan, Argentina

Ironman has confirmed San Juan, Argentina, as the newest host venue for an Ironman 70.3 triathlon. The inaugural race in San Juan is scheduled to take place on Sunday, March 27, 2022. “San Juan is a place athletes will love to race in and a community they may not want to leave,” said Mariano Patrone, the event’s Sports Director. “We know that Ironman 70.3 athletes will be excited to compete here while enjoying our community.”

Ironman 70.3 San Juan will begin with a rolling start format. The 1.2-mile swim will take place in the clear river waters in San Juan. Once out of the water, athletes will take on a 56-mile bike course around the rural towns with rolling hills of the 60 Rute and Interlagos Rute. After transitioning to the run at Las Heras City, athletes will embark on a 13.1-mile run along soft surface trails alongside the town, Spain Square, and Bicentennial Square.

Ironman 70.3 San Juan will offer qualifying slots to the 2022 Ironman 70.3 World Championships taking place in St. George.
