Without going all-out and fully pushing her limits, Nicola Spirig set a more than excellent time at the Zurich marathon last weekend: she crossed the finish line after 2:46:51, which also put her in third place at the Swiss Marathon Championships.

Just last week, Spirig announced her retirement as a pro athlete; only this season she will race as a pro but then she will call it a career. Due to her bike crash only two months ago, Spirigs season now started a bit later than usual, but no less successful. “Great atmosphere at the Zurich Marathon. Thank you for all the people cheering and congrats to more than 10.000 runners participating. It was fun to run with so many others and I’m happy having gotten out a marathon distance race without going to my limits and hopefully being able to train properly again already in the next days.”
