Ironman has decided that Ironman Italy Emilia-Romagna will be postponed with one day due to extreme weather conditions. Local authorities have issued a ‘Code Orange” to warn people for the storm. Since Ironman 70.3 Emilia will take place tomorrow, the organization was able to postpone the Long Distance race until Sunday. Whether that solves the problem remains to be seen, since then the storm would need to smooth out before tomorrow.

“While we are hopeful that we will be able to race on Sunday, this is subject to the severity of the storm, final assessment of weather conditions and course safety. Final confirmation will be issued to athletes via email tomorrow evening”, the organization states in a press release. “If we do have clearance to proceed, we understand that not all athletes may be able to participate on Sunday. Athletes who are unable to participate will be contacted with available options next week.”
