Xterra introduces World Cup with $350,000 prize pool

Seven locations, 12 races, one World Cup ranking and a total prize pool of $350,000: Xterra is launching a “World Cup” spread over multiple races and a total of six months.

The Xterra World Cup involves a total of seven races over 1.5 kilometers of swimming, 30 kilometers of mountain biking and 10 kilometers of trail running (distances at Xterra are never quite exact so may vary slightly, ed.) and five Xterra Short Track races over much shorter distances. These always take place one day after the “classic” races.

Athletes earn points for each participation – depending on their ranking. A final classification is then formed, based on these earned points. The Xterra European Championship in Belgium, announced this week, is also part of the World Cup. Below are all the races that are part of the Xterra World Cup:

Aug 26 – XTERRA USA Championship (Avon, CO, USA)
Sep 23 – XTERRA World Championship (Trentino, ITA)
Sep 24 – XTERRA Trentino Short Track (Trentino, ITA)
