There were two runs, two bike rides and two nordic ski runs during the World Triathlon Winter Championships: both men’s and women’s races were fought for the world title with a small field of participants, and that honor went to an Italian in both races.

In the women’s event, the win went to Sandra Mairhofer. The Italian cross tri specialist finished in a time of 1:50:32 and thus became world champion on home soil. Previously, Mairhofer also won the World Winter Triathlon Championship in 2021. The podium of the race, which took place in Italy, was further filled by Czech Aneta Grabmuller Soldati, who finished after 1:52:14. The bronze was for Norway’s Julie Meinicke, who crossed the line after 1:58:31.

In the men’s race, too, the win went to an Italian: Franco Pesavento won the race in a time of 1:33:51. It was all the more exciting because in the end he only had a 26-second margin on Hans Christian Tungesvik; the Norwegian had to settle for second place. Czech Marek Rauchfuss completed the podium by finishing third in a time of 1:35:42.
