As always at a Sprint Distance, it was exciting and the differences were small, but Spain’s Alberto Gonzalez Garcia and Britain’s Sian Rainsley just grabbed nice victories at the World Triathlon Cup Hong Kong.
In both the men’s and women’s races, a leading group was already formed during the bike. In the end, thirteen men started the final five-kilometer run at the same time, immediately led by Gonzalez Garcia. Nevertheless, precisely because of the small differences, there was an exciting denouement, which was ultimately decided in favor of Gonzalez Garcia. He won the race in 53:17 minutes, staying ahead of, among others, his compatriot Antonio Serrat Seoane, who finished second in 53:22. Japanese Kenji Nener finished third in 53:24.

Rainsley did not let the fact that she was surrounded by two American power women fool her, because with a few hundred meters to go she placed, in a slight descent, an acceleration. Then, when there was another climb at the viaduct, she managed to increase her lead a little more, eventually winning in a time of 59:44. Zaferes was second in 59:53 and Kasper third in 1:00:00.
