There was much speculation as to why Javier Gomez decided last-minute not to start at the PTO T100 in Singapore, but now the very sad reason is known: the multiple Spanish champion’s mother has passed away. In Singapore he was told that his mother’s situation was deteriorating, so he flew back directly to still be able to say goodbye to her.
Fortunately for Gomez, he was still back in time to spend some last days with his mother. “My mum was not only the kindest, sweetest and most loving person I’ve ever known, but an unconditional and key support in my career since the very beginning. She will be missed so much by many and always remembered by those who had the chance to cross paths with her in their lives.”
