He only announced his retirement a few weeks ago, but Javier Gomez doesn’t take it easy: in fact, he will become the coach of the Spanish team targeting the Los Angeles Olympics, 2028. His compatriot Mario Mola will become technical advisor within the federation and together the former top athletes should ensure a strong structure for the future.
Both athletes show themselves happy with their appointment. “This sport has given me everything for more than 20 years,” Gomez said. “It is time to work with the same enthusiasm and intensity to help current and future generations reach their full potential.”
Mola leaves on a similar note. “Very happy to continue contributing to the growth and future of the sport of triathlon. Let’s go for more.”
