Finnish Formula One driver Valtteri Bottas, racing for team Sauber, is believed to be in his last season at the highest level of car racing. That also means that he is looking for new hobbies and partly for that reason, he completed a Long Distance triathlon last week, at home.
This is not the first time Bottas has flirted with endurance sports, as the Canyon-sponsored athlete has already competed regularly in cycling races and was at the start of the Gravel World Championships earlier this year. This week F1 drivers had a week off and Bottas used that time to swim 3.8 kilometers in his own pool, then get on the hometrainer for 180 kilometers of cycling and then get on the treadmill for a marathon. Those 42-plus kilometers in particular became pretty tough for Bottas, who cramped up several times.
