July 27, 2025 will mark the start of the eleventh edition of the famous and infamous Transcontinental Race: a completely self-supported bike race covering thousands of kilometers, in which participants – apart from a start, finish point and a number of set checkpoints – determine their own route, covering a leaden route and conquering thousands of meters of altitude. The 2025-course will lead from the west coast of Spain to eventually the east coast of Romania.

The start next year will be in iconic Santiago de Compostela, and via the north coast of Spain, participants can then cross over to France, eventually arriving at the finish point in Constanta, Romania, via Italy, Albania, Macedonia and Bulgaria.

Because participants can determine their own route and only have to take into account the five checkpoints that have been set out, it is possible that other countries will be visited in the search for the shortest route.
