Swiss Age Group Athlete Michele Caverzasio is apparently stubborn, because after he was caught in possession of doping in October 2022 and received a three-year suspension for it, he has been caught again and that will land him a suspension of another eight (!) years.
Caverzasio was caught in 2022 when a mail package addressed to him containing four ampules of the growth hormone Pharmatropic was intercepted. It earned him a three-year suspension in 2023, but now it appears he was caught again late that same year on a delivery containing three ampules of Pharmatropin. That delivery now lands him a new eight-year suspension, effective from June 2026. The doper still claimed it was a second part of the same 2022 order, but with that he could not convince the Swiss Court of Arbitration for Sport: Caverzasio was found guilty of repeated possession and repeated attempts to use banned substances. The athlete was banned for eight years from the end of the current ban, which is June 17, 2026. The ban applies to all sports and all functions in sports, worldwide. In addition, the convicted athlete must pay a fine of CHF 500 (€590) as well as court costs totaling CHF 750 (€793).
Noteworthy: Caverzasio never managed to win races or even finish on a podium. A tenth place in his M50 Age Group at Ironman Nice 2021 was his best performance.
