No doubt he will not want to take it easy himself at the London Marathon, but at least Alex Yee is also being nicely pushed by his eternal rival Hayden Wilde. Directly after his victory at the WTCS in Abu Dhabi last week, the Kiwi made some striking but mostly funny statements in his after-race interview, in which, among other things, he urged Yee to definitely go for a sub 2:10.
The London Marathon takes place on April 27, and Yee – reigning Olympic Triathlon Champion – is thus one of the notable participants there: the Brit announced late last year that he would like to try his hand at the classic running distance over 42 kilometers.
Wilde thus amusingly played on that when he was asked last week – right after his victory in Abu Dhabi – if he would not have preferred that Yee had also appeared at the start of the WTCS season opener. Wilde then addressed the camera directly: “Come on buddy, get that sub 2:10. We’re all supporting you.”
