Jelle Geens and Morgan Pearson will not be friends anytime soon, as the two athletes, both with T100 contracts, have not spoken out too positively about each other in several podcasts. Belgian athlete Geens was the first to take a jab at the two.
Pearson was awarded a “hotshot” wildcard for the upcoming T100 season earlier this year, but Geens doesn’t understand PTO’s choice for him. In his podcast – which he hosts with Aaron Royle – he expressed that he doesn’t understand why Pearson was chosen as a hotshot, when there are so many athletes who deserve it.
Of course, it was a short wait for a reply, and that came not much later when Pearson spoke out on the Triathlon Hour podcast. “I thought he was kind of like ‘Morgan shouldn’t have been invited’. It was kind of insulting. Pearson added not much later. “It’s a hotshot. They (PTO, ed) want to pick someone with a bit of an X-factor. Maybe he’s (Geens, ed.) a little worried.”
