Sam Laidlow candit about very difficult month: ‘Have to come to a stop after five minutes of every training’

He’s talking very open about it: things are not going well for Sam Laidlow. The French former Ironman World Champion has had a very difficult January in which he had to stop all his workouts after only five minutes. “Been sick a lot and a lot of health problems. It’s really been a bad start to the year. I hope I can turn it around soon.”

Laidlow says he hasn’t felt like himself since Kona – where he smashed the bike course record in 2024 and was in the lead for a long time, before eventually swooning on the run course and losing sight of a top ranking. Both in swim, bike and run workouts he needs to stop after only five minutes. “This month has been flipping terrible, but we will get back on top,” Laidlow concluded, at least on a positive note.
