The first WTCS of the season took place last weekend in Abu Dhabi, but World Triathlon nevertheless announced today – unexpectedly – an entirely new WTCS face. Remarkably, that race will still be held this season and thus will also count in the 2025 rankings. The WTCS Alghero will take place in Sardinia on May 31.
Abu Dhabi counted as the season opener last weekend and the next stop will be WTCS Yokohama, mid-May. The new WTCS Alghero will then be the third stop on the calendar, before Hamburg (July 12 & 13), Karlovy Vary (Sept. 14), Weihai (Sept. 16) and the Grand Final in Wollongong (Oct. 15-19).
The WTCS Alghero will take place on the same day as the T100 in San Francisco. The organization has signed a three-year contract with World Triathlon.
