As Challenge Roth has presented its pro field in recent weeks – and will continue to do so for the next few weeks – a notable name has now been announced: South African Henri Schoeman will make his Long Distance debut at the race in Germany this summer.

Schoeman is a Short Distance specialist, who did some Middle Distance races several times in recent years already. During Challenge Roth, however, the bronze medalist from the Rio Olympics (2016, ed.) will swim 3.8 kilometers, bike 180 kilometers and run 42.2 kilometers for the first time. “I’m incredibly excited to be competing at Challenge Roth as this race has been on my bucket list for a long time. I think the atmosphere is simply spectacular and it’s very special to be part of it – especially competing with the best pros.”

Schoeman says he has no specific expectations. “It will be my first Long Distance race. I don’t have any specific expectations, but I really want to compete with the best and learn as much as possible from the race and about myself. If I manage to finish on the podium, I will of course be very happy.”
