Winning the first Europe Triathlon Cup of the year is a nice way to start the season, and Britain’s Tilly Anema can talk about that: today she won in Quarteira and did so with supremacy.
A breakaway of four women formed early in the race – including, in addition to Anema, Portugal’s Melanie Santos and Maria Tomé and Austria’s Therese Feuersinger – and despite a chasing group behind, these four ladies stayed ahead. During the run, the race was decided and no one proved able to keep up with Anema.
Anema won the race in a time of 1:57:28. Santos was second in 1:58:37 and Tomé was third in 1:58:47.
