The Ironman Group has confirmed the addition of a new event in South America – the first-ever Ironman 70.3 triathlon to take place in Paraguay.

The inaugural IM 70.3 Encarnación is scheduled for Sunday, September 28, 2025, in the riverside city of Encarnación – on the north bank of the Paraná River, in southern Paraguay.

The announcement follows Paraguay’s debut 5150 triathlon, also held in Encarnación, on April 13.

“We are excited to bring the Ironman 70.3 series to Paraguay for the first time,” said Joanna Jordan, Vice President – Managing Director of Latin America for The IM Group.

“The exceptional reception of our 5150 race in Encarnación was just the beginning. This next chapter reinforces our belief that Paraguay’s support for the sport showcases the city as a hub for world-class sporting events.”

The Ironman 70.3 triathlon features a 1.9km swim, 90km bike and 21.1km run. The course will take in the city’s Costanera and riverfront, combining technical elements with scenic views.

Ironman expects the new event to help develop endurance sport in the region, while boosting tourism and the local economy. The race will also offer qualifying slots for the 2026 IM 70.3 World Championship, which is set to take place in Nice, France.
