Alanis Siffert has done it again. Just under three weeks after a stellar performance at Challenge Roth, the Swiss athlete has successfully defended her title at the iconic Alpe d’Huez Triathlon, delivering a powerful performance from start to finish.
Last year, Siffert conquered the grueling course with poise and strength, and this year she returned even stronger. In her trademark style – pushing a heavy gear and riding much of the legendary climb in an aero position – she once again proved that Alpe d’Huez suits her perfectly.
The day began with a 2.2-kilometer swim, where Siffert laid the foundation for her victory with a solid time of 28:08. But it was the demanding 118-kilometer bike leg, packed with 3,200 meters of elevation and capped by the brutal ascent of Alpe d’Huez, where she truly shone. Despite riding sliJeanneghtly slower than France’s Jeanne Collonge – who would go on to finish third – Siffert remained firmly in control heading into the run.
Once on the final 20-kilometer run atop the mountain, the outcome was never in doubt. Siffert maintained her lead with confidence, crossing the line in 6:18:37 – several minutes faster than her winning time last year.
Fellow Swiss athlete Nina Derron took second, finishing in 6:23:06, while hometown favorite Collonge completed the podium in 6:26:35.
