Triathlon fans have reason to be optimistic: Hayden Wilde is eyeing a return to racing at the upcoming T100 London event on the weekend of August 8-9.

The Kiwi star, who claimed victory at the season-opening T100 Singapore, was sidelined after a serious training accident just two months ago in which he was struck by a car. The incident left him with significant injuries and forced him to miss key events in San Francisco and Vancouver.

Despite the setback, Wilde’s recovery appears to be progressing well. “August 9 is definitely a possibility,” he said when asked about a return at T100 London. “My focus is on taking things one day at a time and not to have a specific return date in mind. But every day I’m feeling stronger, fitter and more confident and after having had a really positive taste of the T100 in Singapore, it’s been frustrating to have to sit and watch the races in San Francisco and Vancouver from the sidelines.”
