The Balearic Islands are set to host a spectacular showdown this weekend as Challenge Peguera-Mallorca returns with a sold-out field and a truly international line-up. More than 60 professional triathletes and over 1,300 age group competitors will take on the Mediterranean course in what has become one of the standout middle-distance races on the global triathlon calendar.

Meißner Leads Powerful Women’s Line-Up

Germany’s Lena Meißner, the reigning European Middle Distance Champion, headlines a stellar women’s field as she makes her Challenge Family debut following a successful transition from short-course racing. She’ll be joined by Daisy Davies (GBR), who has enjoyed a breakout season with victory at Challenge Almere-Amsterdam and a runner-up finish at The Championship.

Also returning to the spotlight is Anna Bergsten (SWE), runner-up at Challenge Vieux Boucau last year, alongside Lisa Gerß (GER), winner of Challenge Herning in 2021, and Marta Bernardi (ITA), one of the most consistent performers on the Challenge circuit in recent seasons. With such depth in the field, the battle for the podium promises to be fierce.

Tight Contest Expected in Men’s Race

The men’s professional race features no shortage of contenders. Jonathan Wayaffe (BEL), who took third at Challenge Salou earlier this year and won Challenge Barcelona in 2023, arrives in strong late-season form. Ognjen Stojanovic (SRB), one of the most experienced athletes in the field, lines up after an impressive campaign featuring nine races and three Challenge Family podiums.

Britain’s James Teagle, second at Challenge London in 2023, will be targeting another podium, while Alessio Crociani (ITA), fresh off his win at Challenge Cesenatico, continues to prove his adaptability across both short and middle-distance racing. Rafael Lukatsch (AUT), who came agonisingly close to the podium at both Challenge Walchsee and Challenge St. Pölten, will be determined to turn near-misses into medals this time around.

Festival Atmosphere Beyond the Finish Line

Beyond the professional race, Challenge Peguera-Mallorca continues to embody the festival spirit that makes it a favourite among athletes and fans alike. Over a thousand age groupers will not only chase personal bests but also soak up the island’s end-of-season energy. The weekend features a full programme of side events — from the Junior Challenge and Women’s Run to the Nit de Foc celebrations, live rock concerts, and the traditional Pasta Party and After Race Celebration.

With its mix of coastal scenery, challenging terrain, and vibrant community support, it’s no wonder Challenge Peguera-Mallorca earned the title of Challenge Family Race of the Year 2024. As the season draws to a close, Mallorca looks ready to deliver one last unforgettable race weekend.
