While original founder Roman Arnold already returned to Canyon last September to take on the role of Executive Chairman, the German-based bicycle company will also have a new CEO in the form of Matthias Meier as of May 1 of this year. Meier, together with Arnold, will be ultimately responsible for leading the industry-leading brand.

Under Meier’s leadership, Canyon states the company will focus further on “strategic growth opportunities, strengthening its own DNA, and sustainably enhancing its innovation capacity, sporting performance, and close ties with the cycling community.”

Meier previously spent twelve years at DT Swiss, where his roles included Chief Sales & Marketing Officer, Vice President, and co-CEO. He was also instrumental in establishing the partnerships between DT Swiss, Continental, and Swiss Side.

“The hardest thing in this industry,” Meier says, “is to build a brand that riders genuinely believe in. Canyon has done that. My job starts from a position that most CEOs never reach – a product that needs no justification and a brand that has never needed to shout. What it needs now is the operational and commercial strength to match its ambition. That is what we are here to build.”

According to Arnold, Meier will lead Canyon into an “exciting new chapter.”
