Following the recent launch of its flagship Endurace CFR, Canyon has expanded its endurance lineup with the introduction of the next-generation Endurace CF SLX and Endurace CF. The new models are designed to bridge the gap between high-performance aerodynamics and all-day comfort, targeting the growing all-road and long-distance market.
With this release, the German manufacturer is lowering the entry barrier for its carbon endurance range. The Endurace CF now starts at €1,699 for the base CF 5 model, while the higher-specification, electronic-only CF SLX range begins at €3,999 for the Endurace CF SLX 7 AXS.
Aerodynamic Efficiency Meets Endurance Geometry
The Endurace CF SLX has been developed as a standalone platform that inherits aerodynamic characteristics from the race-focused CFR model. According to Canyon’s wind tunnel testing, the CF SLX recorded 209 watts of drag at 45 km/h, a figure the brand claims rivals the efficiency of several World Tour race bikes.
However, the bike is distinctly prioritized for endurance and multi-sport athletes tackling longer distances. Key design features include:
- Sport Geometry: A higher stack and shorter reach compared to Canyon’s Ultimate and Ultimate Aeroad racing lines, reducing strain on the back and neck during extended efforts.
- Tyre Clearance: Standard 38mm tyre clearance across all models, allowing for wider, lower-pressure setups suitable for rough tarmac or light gravel.
- Compliance: The inclusion of the SP093 VCLS Aero seatpost, engineered to increase vertical compliance by over 25% compared to standard rigid posts.
In an effort to optimize biomechanics, Canyon has also updated its component sizing, making 165mm cranks standard on size Medium frames to promote a more open hip angle during the pedal stroke.
Integrated Storage and Versatility
The CF SLX frame features an integrated Load Down Tube Storage system for tools and nutrition, alongside compatibility with Canyon’s proprietary Defend Fast Fender system.
For athletes seeking a more budget-conscious option, the Endurace CF features a carbon frame weighing under 1,000 grams. While it lacks the internal down tube storage of the SLX, it maintains the same 38mm tyre clearance and features top tube and frame bag mounts for long-distance self-sufficiency. Select CF models utilize the VCLS 2.0 leafspring seatpost for added vibration dampening.
Build Specifications and Availability
Both platforms are available in a seven-size range spanning from 2XS to 2XL, incorporating progressive contact points (such as narrower handlebars and shorter cranks) on the smaller frame sizes.
- Endurace CF SLX: All models come equipped with electronic drivetrains and carbon wheelsets.
- Endurace CF: Offers a broader mix of mechanical and electronic drivetrains, paired with either aluminium or carbon wheel builds.
The new Endurace models are available immediately via Canyon’s direct-to-consumer website.
