In a race where the truly big names were absent, but which perhaps left the battle wide open and allowed more room for athletes who are usually less in the spotlight, American Braxton Legg and Slovakian Zuzana Michalickova won the World Triathlon Cup Rio de Janeiro. In both cases, victory came down to a sprint, with the difference to the runner-up ultimately being just one second.
