Exactly one month ago, Alanis Siffert won Challenge Roth in impressive – and surprising – fashion, and today she proved her sensational form once again: for the third consecutive time, Siffert was the fastest female athlete during the grueling yet stunning Alpe d’Huez Triathlon, slowly but surely establishing herself as queen of the mountain.
Siffert didn’t just win the Alpe d’Huez Triathlon; she crushed her rivals along the way. She took the lead during the swim section and steadily built on her advantage during the bike leg and the run. That Siffert is world-class was already clear, but today served as yet another confirmation with a world-class performance.
For a long time, the podium looked set to mirror last year’s result, were it not for French athlete Jeanne Collonge ultimately overtaking Nina Derron. Siffert took the victory with a time of 6:13:00, while Collonge finished second in 6:22:30 and Derron third in 6:32:12.
