Challenge Roth can take place on July 3, 2022, without Covid restrictions. This follows coordination with local authorities in Roth, southern Germany. After working closely with the health department and Roth district office, the Walchshöfer family and event organising team are planning for a ‘relaxed race week for all triathlon fans.’

“After the recent difficult years, it is now especially important for people that events such as Challenge Roth can take place again on a large scale,” said race director, Felix Walchshöfer. “Last year we showed we can handle the responsibility regarding Corona well. That’s why we’re really looking forward to welcoming our spectators, all the volunteers and, of course, our athletes from all over the world, some of whom have been waiting to race for almost three years.”

Course hot spots
To support the athletes, there will again be many hotspots along the course such as Solarer Berg and Kalvarienberg. These are traditionally organised by teams, clubs, and organisations from both the Roth region and from all over Germany and Austria. The swim start bridge – a highlight of the day for many – will again be freely accessible for spectators.

No restrictions in Triathlon Park
Also this year, ‘the world’s largest triathlon expo’ will take place around Challenge Roth. There are no Covid restrictions for exhibitors nor for any supporting events related to the race, such as the Challenge Women run, the Junior Challenge / Challenge for All, Night Run, Erdinger Hut Evening or the Bambini Run. As a thank you to the contribution from the event’s thousands of volunteers, the Volunteer Party will once again take place again on the Monday after race day. As every year, the popular volunteer film will be shown at this celebration.

“We would like to thank the health department and the Roth district office in all forms,” added Walchshöfer. “The constructive cooperation not only this year, but since the beginning of the pandemic has helped us immensely to organise a safe and high-quality event.”
