Fans who were watching Ironman Lake Placid yesterday – at the event location or via livestream – saw Joe Skipper take the victory in a phenomenal way. However, the Briton crossed the finish line seemingly unemotional and that was noticed by a lot of people, especially online. Skipper just explained that he was happy, but simply to tired to cross the finish line cheering.
“Can I just clear a few things up on here? I was very pleased I won the race, despite what it might look like. I had to dig very deep on the run and was on my limit the whole way. I wasn’t getting any splits so had no idea if I was getting caught by Ben (Hoffman, ed.). I had to dig very deep and at the end was absolutely spent!”
