The 2025 World Triathlon Multisport Championships in Pontevedra kicked off with an electrifying start as Italy’s Giorgia Priarone surged to victory in the Duathlon World Championship. The seasoned Italian athlete had to dig deep, battling every meter of the race, but her grit and determination ultimately earned her the world title.

While the World Triathlon Multisport Championships have seen a dip in prominence in recent years, today’s race defied that trend. Despite the absence of several top-tier elites, the women’s duathlon field was still impressively deep with 34 athletes toeing the line. The Standard Distance race featured a 5 km run, a 30 km bike, and a final 5 km run — a fast and fierce format that led to a nail-biting podium battle.

Priarone stopped the clock at 1:24:40, edging out Spain’s Maria Varo Zubiri by just five seconds (1:24:45). France’s Camille Laurent rounded out the podium, finishing in 1:24:52. With mere seconds separating the top three, the race provided a thrilling start to a week packed with multisport action.
