Another Shake-Up in the PTO T100 Calendar: Valencia Cancelled Just Seven Weeks Out

It’s starting to feel like a pattern: once again, the PTO has pulled the plug on a T100 event at the last minute. The latest casualty is the T100 Valencia, originally scheduled for September 20. The event has now been officially cancelled, and organizers are reportedly scrambling to secure an alternative location.

This latest development marks another race that has been cancelled and replaced – Valencia was already meant to substitute for the previously scrapped T100 Ibiza but earlier PTO also cancelled or re-scheduled other races very last minute.

Professional athletes were informed earlier this week that Valencia was off the calendar, and now World Triathlon has confirmed the news in a public statement. In that same announcement, they also revealed that the World Triathlon Cup Valencia, which was to be held at the same venue and weekend, has also been cancelled. As for the T100, organizers are said to be actively looking for a new location.

The reason given? “Various circumstances that have created different uncertainties.” A vague explanation that leaves more questions than answers – especially considering this announcement comes just seven weeks before the event was due to take place.
