Bradley Weiss delivered a commanding performance at the Samla 100km in Qatar, claiming a convincing victory in one of the most extreme endurance events on the calendar. The South African cross-triathlon specialist proved untouchable in a race that defies easy comparison, combining multiple endurance disciplines into a single, relentless challenge. Weiss crossed the finish line solo after 6:29:12, firmly establishing himself as the strongest athlete of the day.
The Samla 100km features a continuous, non-stop format consisting of 3 kilometers of swimming, 21 kilometers of running, 22 kilometers of mountain biking, 4 kilometers of kayaking, another 22 kilometers of mountain biking and a final 28-kilometer run. Set largely on unpaved terrain in the Qatari desert, the event is contested under harsh conditions. With Qatar investing heavily to put the race on the international map, a substantial prize purse attracted an impressive field of elite athletes.
Weiss gradually asserted control over the race until he had a gap that none of his rivals could close. Olympic medalist Henri Schoeman secured second place in 6:36:21, while Dutch Milan Brons completed the podium in third with a time of 6:37:58.
In the women’s race, Rachel Klamer claimed victory in 8:09:11, finishing well ahead of Jessica Learmonth (8:30:19) and Maria Saleta Nogueira (8:40:01).
Will Draper, who finished fourth, shared an impression video, which you can see here:
