He is celebrated and condemned, loved and loathed: whatever your opinion of Lance Armstrong, the former American professional cyclist – and accomplished triathlete – continues to spark debate to this day. Now, he appears on Frodeno Going Mental, the podcast hosted by Jan Frodeno.

Frodeno describes the hour-long conversation with Armstrong as “raw and honest.” It is a fitting description for a life story marked by extraordinary highs and dramatic lows.

Armstrong was born to a 17-year-old mother and raised in Texas. At 25, he overcame cancer in what became one of sport’s most widely known comeback stories. He went on to win the Tour de France seven consecutive times between 1999 and 2005. However, in 2012, those victories were all stripped after it was revealed that the American had used performance-enhancing drugs during his career. Armstrong lost not only his titles, but also sponsors, friendships, and significant wealth.

In the podcast, Frodeno explores both the peaks and the valleys of Armstrong’s life. “Lance talks about the mentality that drove him, that broke him, and that ultimately allowed him to rebuild,” Frodeno explains.
