It’s over a year away at this point, but triathlon will kick off next year’s Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. This multisport event is scheduled from July 28 (opening ceremonies) to August 8, 2022 and, on the first day medal events are scheduled for swimming, track cycling and gymnastics, but also for triathlon.
This involves the individual races over the sprint distance, as the Mixed Relay will be held on July 31. The same goes for the Para Triathlon.
The event will also be the first time in history that women will be able to claim more medals than men at the Commonwealth Games – there are simply more disciplines on the program for women.
In total, 19 different sports are scheduled and there will be 283 medal events.
