British Triathlon launches Sustainability Commission “to limit impact of the sport on environment”

“Drive the sport forward with the aim to keep sustainability at the heart of everything we do,” say British Triathlon, which has launched a Sustainability Commission to “limit the impact the sport has on the natural environment that is so heavily relies upon.” The federation is still looking for ten members who could contribute to this new commission. “These individuals will be tasked with developing and implementing a sustainability policy and monitoring the progress of these plans,” the organization states in a press release.

“We’re incredibly proud to be launching the Sustainability Commission,” says Ben Cummings, Director of Commercial and Major Events, and member of British Triathlon’s Environment and Sustainable Committee. “We have announced the commission on World Earth Day in a drive to further cement our commitment to sustainability across the sport all the way from grassroots to our performance teams. We need our community to support this, and I would encourage anyone with expertise and interest in sustainability and sport to get involved. I know that together we can achieve great things and I am looking forward to promoting a healthy and sustainable sport for the future generation who share our passion for swim, bike and run.” Applications can be submitted until May 20, 2021.
