Last weekend triathlon fans from all over the world enjoyed an exciting Ironman 70.3 St. George race – especially because of the exciting men’s race that was decided in the last meters after a intenst (you can find a detailed race report of both the men’s race and the women’s race here). However, that wonderful feeling was soon overshadowed when the organization confirmed that an age group athlete had died during the swim.

The identity of the deceased triathlete has not been disclosed, but it is clear that the athlete had issues during the swim. The rescue team quickly spotted the athlete, pulled him out of the water and tried to administer first aid, but to no avail.
