Ironman returns to Maastricht Limburg

The Netherlands will see the return of Ironman racing to Maastricht-Limburg next year – the company has announced that the fifth edition of the race will take place on August 7, 2022. The race, which started in 2015, hasn’t been held since 2018.

Instead of holding a full-distance race in 2019, Ironman put on the Maastricht Multisport Festival that included Ironman 70.3 Maastricht-Limburg, a 5150 Triathlon Series race, a 4:18:4 Short Course Triathlon and an IronKids race. Now a full-distance race will be added to the mix.

The race will begin with a 3.8 km swim takes place in the Maas River and starts at “St. Servaasbrug”, The Netherlands’ oldest street bridge. The 180 km bike course rolls through South Limburg, and the 42.2 km run runs through the Maastricht city centre and finishes in the historic “de Markt” square.

Registration for the race is now open and you can find more information on the race here. The race will offer 40 qualifying spots to the 2022 Ironman World Championship.
