Its that time of year – over the next month or two we’re likely to see a number of announcements around new sponsorships starting in 2022. Today we have a couple of big announcements for you:
A few days ago we reported that 10-time world champion Javier Gomez would be kicking off his season this weekend at Ironman 70.3 Pucon, and that he would no longer be riding with long-time sponsor Specialized. It seemed logical that one of Spain’s most famous triathletes would be a good fit with Spanish bike brand Orbea, and that is the case – he announced on Instagram a few hours ago that he will be partnered with Orbea as he takes on his “adventure in Long Distance.”
“The new #Ordu is an amazing TT bike, it feels fast and super comfortable from day one,” Gomez continues. He’ll find out quickly – he’ll be putting the new bike through its paces this weekend in Chile. Gomez’s new bike will be fitted with Hed wheels and Rotor cranks.

In other sponsorship news, American Sam Long has signed a multi-year deal with Zoot Sports, the triathlon apparel company that was founded in Kona, Hawaii, the home of the Ironman World Championship in 1983.
“When the opportunity presented itself to partner with Zoot, I jumped out of my chair in excitement,” Long said. “Zoot is the perfect partner for me; a historical beginning in triathlon, fun roots, and high performance. All centered in the USA. I am excited to partner with Zoot as we pursue the highest accolades in the sport while having fun and showcasing my personality through character-inspired kits. Joining forces with Zoot is the right move for me. Zoot and I both share the passion and commitment to bring the glory of triathlon back home to where it started–the USA! Zoot is leaving no stone unturned to make me the fastest and most comfortable speed suit possible. I, also, must add it will have the best design because we all know looking good is worth “Free Speed.” Zoot is coming on as a full partner in innovation to maximize my performance and give me the support I need to pursue the highest level of racing. Yo Yo Yo!”
