While a draft of the program was already available, World Triathlon has now confirmed the first races of the 2022 race calendar. The WTCS season already kicked off in 2022 with two events – Hamburg and Abu Dhabi – but another five events will follow in 2022, before the season wraps up with the finals in Abu Dhabi. Additionally, there are eleven World Triathlon Cups on the calendar and Andorra will host the World Triathlon Winter Championships again.
The WTCS program is not much different from other years, with one exception: the Chinese Chengdu will host a WTCS event over the Olympic distance in October 2022. Who become the 2022 World Triathlon and Para Triathlon champions will be decided in Abu Dhabi. Montreal, on the other hand, will decide on the 2022 Sprint and Relay world champions.
Also, a new World Triathlon Cup was added to the program: World Triathlon Cup Bergen, Norway, the hometown of current Olympic champion Kristian Blummenfelt.
