By now, it feels like the countdown for the Ironman World Championship in St. George has really started. Only another two weeks to go until the best athletes in the world will decide who will win the postponed 2021 Ironman World Championship. In this strange year, good for two Ironman World Championships – St. George in May and Hawaii in October – the stakes are higher than ever, and maybe that’s what resulted in quite some athletes being absent in St. George. With Jan Frodeno, Lucy Charles and Patrick Lange being injured, and Javier Gomez recovering from COVID-19, already four top favorites will have to miss the party.
