With the rise of the Professional Triathletes Organisation (PTO), the sport of triathlon has reached a next level of professionalism. Not only in terms of how much the best triathletes in the world get paid to show what they can do, but also because the PTO helps triathlon to reach a bigger audience through broadcasting. And they will receive help in doing so from an expert in the field, as the PTO just signed a multi-year broadcast deal with no other than Warner Bros. Discovery.
Warner Bros. Discovery will organize the broadcasting of the new PTO Tour. The events will be available to stream all throughout Europe on Eurosport and for the rest of the world through the Discovery+ and Eurosport application. The streams will be available in twenty languages, and therefor reach a vast audience. Eurosport.com – attracting around 50 million people each month – will also pay extra attention to triathlon in their news and featured articles.
“The new PTO Tour is a fantastic proposition, as we saw first-hand from the Collins Cup last year”, Trojan Paillot commented, Vice President Sports Rights Acquisitions and Syndication at Warner Bros. Discovery Sports Europe. “We are hugely excited to provide the scale and expertise of Warner Bros. Discovery Sports, using the reach of our broadcast network and engagement at scale of our digital platforms to support the growth of the PTO Tour.”
Senior Vice President, Content and Production at Warner Bros. Discovery Sports Europe, Scott Young, states: “As Home of the Olympics in Europe, we know triathletes have some of the most compelling stories in sport. Our role as storytellers is to bring these stories to as many people as possible, offering the PTO and its athlete members a year-round platform to showcase their extraordinary talents.”
