“After thoughtful consideration, we have made the decision to discontinue Ironman Waco for the time being and move forward with Ironman 70.3 Waco in 2023.” It’s part of a mailing that Ironman just send out to athletes participating in Ironman Waco. While earlier this year, the organization behind the events in Waco announced an agreement with Ironman for a triathlon weekend – for both the 70.3 and Full Distance event – throughout 2028, it now turns out the full Ironman was last held in the weekend of Oct. 16, 2022.

“A decision like this is never easy, and we understand the disappointment this may cause for our Ironman participants. We would like to thank the local community for their support and are grateful to Waco, Texas, for hosting us”, Ironman continues. “For those in our Waco community looking for an Ironman in Texas next year, we will be reopening priority for 2023 Ironman America’s Championship Texas, part of the Ironman North America Series, for a limited time and exclusive for you.”
