Lisa Tertsch just won the Europe Triathlon Cup in Alanya, Turkey. The German athlete was totally untouchable and crossed the line 44 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher, Britain’s Sophia Green. France’s Candice Denizot (+0:45) settled for bronze after a sprint finish with Green.
Portugal’s Helena Carvalho was first out of the water after the swim part, she enjoyed a five-second buffer to Tertsch and another group. On the bike, the first athletes merged into a group of eight women.
Once she hit the run, Tertsch was off. Tertsch was the only athlete to run under 17 minutes (16:50 minutes) and blasted to the win. Behind Tertsch, Green and Denizot battled for second place. Green was the one who brought home the silver medal, just a second ahead of Denizot, who settled in third.
