The Aquabike (swim-bike) was on the schedule for the last time in 2021 during the World Championships at Challenge Almere-Amsterdam, but the organization is putting the event back on its race calendar this year: in 2023 there will also be the opportunity to compete in the Aquabike during Challenge Almere-Amsterdam. Thereby, athletes can choose for the Long Distance (3.8-180) or Middle Distance (1.9-90).

The decision to bring back the Aquabike was a deliberate one, explains Race Director Richard Belderok. “The run is usually considered the most heavy. So If you skip that run, the race becomes a lot more doable for a lot of people. Meanwhile you can still enjoy the great atmosphere along the course of our race. The Aquabike is also extremely suitable for triathletes who are well trained, but have difficulty running due to injury.”

The Aquabike will take place on the same day as the Long Distance and Middle Distance of Challenge Almere-Amsterdam: Sept. 9, 2023. Registration is open immediately and is through the event’s website.
