Jose Ignacio Galvez Ponce and Anna Zehnder win European Championships Cross Duathlon

In a race put on by few competitors, Jose Ignaco Galvez Ponce and Anna Zehnder have just become European Cross Duathlon Champions. The race involved 6200 meters of running, 21.6 kilometers of mountain biking and then another 4,000 meters of running.

In Coimbra, Portugal, Switzerland’s Zehnder was good for the European title Cross Duathlon when she crossed the finish line after 1:42:41. With that time, she remained ahead of Spain’s Marta Cabello Arias (1:43:23) and Belgium’s Lisa Isebaert (1:43:43).

Among the men, the time differences for the podium were smaller. Winner Galvez Ponce won in a time of 1:28:21, staying ten seconds ahead of German Fabian Holbach. Belgian Sebastien Carabin finished third in 1:28:57.
