Like last year, Emile Blondel-Hermant and Merle Brunnée won the World Championship Long Distance Duathlon in Zofingen. In the race over 10 kilometers of running, 150 kilometers of cycling and another 30 kilometers of running, they again proved too strong for their competitors.

Blondel-Hermant won the race in 5:58:15, making him the only athlete to stay under six hours. Belgian Seppe Odeyn finished second in 6:03:45 and third place was claimed by Jens-Michael Gossauer: the Swiss athlete finished in 6:05:51.

As in the men’s race, the defending champion also won the women’s race: Merle Brunnée finished in 6:54:55 and thus crowned herself World Champion again. The women’s podium was completely German, as Maja Betz finished second in 7:08:22 and Nelly Rassmann finished third in 7:19:00.
